Having the courage to make an executive decision is one thing. But it is helpful if you also have the wisdom for those executive decisions to be good decisions.

When you say "honking" do you mean large or audible? That gift would be especially courageous (but perhaps lacking in terms of wisdom) if the wife's parents and extended family members were present for the denouement.
